AJTech (“this site”, “we”, “I”) is a personal tech blog operated by Arash Jalalat. This page explains what personal data is collected, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

What data is collected

Contact form

When you use the contact form, the following information is collected:

  • Name — to know who is reaching out.
  • Email address — to be able to reply to your message.
  • Subject and message — the content of your inquiry.

This data is submitted voluntarily by you and is only used to respond to your message.

Cloudflare Turnstile (bot protection)

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish between human visitors and automated bots. During this verification, Cloudflare may collect your IP address and browser metadata. This data is processed by Cloudflare under their privacy policy.

Comments (Giscus)

Blog post comments are powered by Giscus, which uses GitHub Discussions as a backend. When you post a comment, you authenticate through your GitHub account. The data associated with your comment (GitHub username, avatar, and comment content) is stored on GitHub. Please refer to GitHub’s privacy statement for details.

Hosting and analytics

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs such as IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. No additional analytics or tracking tools are used on this site. Refer to Cloudflare’s privacy policy for more details.

The legal basis for processing your personal data through the contact form is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). By voluntarily submitting the form, you consent to the processing of your name, email address, and message. Providing this data is not a statutory or contractual requirement — it is entirely voluntary. If you choose not to provide it, the only consequence is that I cannot respond to your inquiry.

How your data is processed

Email delivery

Contact form submissions are sent via the Resend email API. Your name and email address are included in the email so that I can reply to you. Resend processes this data as a service provider; refer to Resend’s privacy policy for details.

Your personal data from the contact form is not stored in a database. It is only transmitted via email and exists in the email inbox.

No data selling or sharing

Your personal data is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with the service providers mentioned above (Cloudflare, Resend, GitHub) to operate this site.

International data transfers

Some of the service providers used by this site are based outside the European Economic Area. Specifically, Resend and Cloudflare are US-based companies. Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. These providers maintain appropriate safeguards for data protection. By using the contact form, you consent to this transfer.

Cookies

This site does not use cookies for analytics or advertising. The only cookies that may be set are:

  • Cloudflare Turnstile — functional cookies required for bot protection on the contact form.
  • Theme preference — a local storage entry to remember your light/dark mode selection.

Your rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access — request what personal data is held about you.
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to restrict processing — request limitation of how your data is used.
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured format.
  • Right to object — object to the processing of your personal data.
  • Right to withdraw consent — you can withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, please reach out via the contact form.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are in the Netherlands, the relevant authority is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Data retention

Personal data submitted through the contact form is retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry. After that, emails may be deleted at my discretion.

This site may contain links to external websites. I have no control over and assume no responsibility for the privacy practices of third-party sites. Please review their privacy policies independently.

Changes to this privacy policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
